The Power to Create

The fans have been waiting long enough.  The next power player in Canon's lineup has been announced:
Presenting the "popular before it was even announced" Canon EOS 5D Mark III!

This impressive new camera improves on an already successful and effective system.  The 5D Mark II was a landmark camera for Canon with its high-ISO, low noise capabilities and hi-res 1080p video recording.  For a while, there really was no equal to the 5D Mark II.  Improving on that system seemed like it would be hard to do, but Canon has done it.

With the inclusion of the 61-point AF system (the same system that's being included in the 1D X), the 5D Mark III promises to be a precise tool for the most demanding photographer.  And having its frame rate bumped up from 3.9 to 6.0 means that capturing the precise moment just got a whole lot easier.

Expected to launch by the end of March, this camera is likely to fly out of inventory before it even has the chance to see a shelf.  As with all new SLR launches, Lighthaus Camera is already taking pre-orders for the 5D Mark III, and trade-ins are always welcome!  Please call or stop by your local Lighthaus Camera location for more info on how to get your hands on one!

Is everyone ready for February's theme, and another chance to win a $50 Lighthaus Camera gift card?

"Surfin' Da Wave"

Lighthaus camera is proud to be one of this year's sponsors of S-Turns Surf Club's tenth annual Keiki Long Board Surf Contest, and because of this we felt it would be appropriate to focus this month's theme on surfing.

S-Turns emphasises fun and ohana over competition, and provides a great service to our island's keiki.  For this, we're happy to sponsor the 2012 Keiki O Ke Kai.  Learn more about S-Turns and the Keiki Long Board Contest at http://www.s-turns.com/.

Next Link in the Evolutionary Chain

For a little more than three years, Nikon users have had a pretty generous offering in the D700 with it's 12.1-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor, high-ISO/low noise handling capabilities and fast, accurate 51-point AF with 3D Focus Tracking abilities.  But the masses have been clamoring for more.  Apparently, Nikon has been listening.
Introducing Nikon's powerhouse additions to their DSLR line - the D800 and D800E.  This impressive camera promises images of a higher quality than has ever been possible with its massive 36.3MP FX-format CMOS sensor - never before seen in a full-frame DSLR camera.

For complete specs and release info, check out Nikon's press release.
